Haslar Sea Wall
Haslar Sea Wall is a brilliant mixed species fishing mark in Gosport. Excellent for a wide variety of fish, including some excellent wrasse fishing and an ideal spot for mackerel in the summer months. You don't need a huge beachcaster rod to fish here - in fact you're better off travelling light. Our preferred technique is using LRF (light rock fishing) gear and small sections of rag worm on a dropshotting rig. Be prepared to lose leads! Wise anglers will use pebbles, old metal nuts and other expendable weights here.
This is also an ideal location for introducing children to fishing, as you can easily catch a large number of small fish to keep the little ones entertained. Don't be surprised if you hook into a larger specimen though! Every year, decent bass are landed from the Haslar Sea Wall with worm baits working well.
Haslar Sea Wall fishing is excellent year round, but is obviously more popular in the summer and it can get busy at times. Take care as the concrete slope can be slippery below the water line at low tide.
